Thinking about getting a fringe?

Beautiful woman with bright professional make-up.

If so Peter Mark have put together some top tips for choosing the right fringe to suite your face shape.  If you’re thinking of getting a fringe and you have a square face shape like Olivia Wilde here are some things to remember and avoid in order to get the perfect fringe for you. Long, soft fringes work best on square faces, either to the side, full with texture or with a subtle part in the middle. These will add an element of softness.

For those of you who have a heart shape like Reese Witherspoon (which is wider at the forehead and narrow at the jaw line) your aim is to balance out the thinner jawline with the wider forehead. Try avoiding full blunt fringes as this will shift the balance in the wrong direction. Instead opt for a long, layered side fringe which will draw attention to the eyes and middle of your face. The shortest piece should start at the eyebrow and should end around your cheekbones.

If you are thinking of getting a fringe and you have an oblong face shape like Liv Tyler you should avoid side fringes as they will make your face look longer instead a fuller thicker fringe that is either on or just below the eyebrow work best as this will give the illusion of shortening your face.
At this length you can play around with the styling. You can wear your fringe styled straight across, pushed to the side or parted in the middle.

If you have a high forehead like Angelina Jolie you should try a fuller, heavier fringe that has lots of natural texture and movement. The fullness will do two things, disguise the amount of hair you have in the fringe and the texture will open up your face as the fringe parts naturally in the centre or sides so you are not consumed by your fringe.

And finally if you have a round face shape like Emma Stone then you should avoid blunt fringes as they can accentuate fullness and shortness making your face actually appear more circular.
Instead you should try softer side-sweeping fringe as this will elongate your face making it appear oval. Try to avoid wispy fringe as they won’t have any impact.

So, if you are currently rocking long layers, short bob or a mid length cut remember there’s a fringe to suit every style and to help you choose you should have a little look through Peter Mark’s Pinterest fringes board to find the perfect one for your look.

Or you could call into their salon at the Crescent and speak to a stylist as all consultations are complimentary.
